What's Happening?
Our Forgotten Classics of the Stage series concluded on the last Sunday in September at Pascal Hall in Rockport and we now move on to our first fully-staged production since the Threepenny Opera in 2019!
THE FATHER by Florian Zeller, translated by Christopher Hampton, will open on November 1st and run to November 10th, at 7.00pm on Fridays and Saturdays and 2.30pm on Sundays. Tickets are available here from the Camden Opera House website.
Now 70 years old, André was once a tap dancer. He lives with his daughter, Anne, and her husband, Antoine. Or was André an engineer, whose daughter Anne lives in London with her new lover, Pierre? The thing is, he is still wearing his pajamas, and he can’t find his watch. He is starting to wonder if he’s losing control. What is all this nonsense? Florian Zeller’s award-winning tragic farce about dementia makes its Maine debut; it’s a beautifully written play that has the audience laughing one minute and crying the next -- and has it as confused as André. Truly, a play for our time.
Doors open 6:30 p.m.
